Golden Eagles Transition into Basketball Season

As Football season has ended, Grace’s Junior Varsity and Varsity Boys’ Basketball teams along with the Girls’ Varsity team are gearing up to start their seasons. Both the Girls’ and Boys’ Basketball teams played their first pre-game of the season last night against the Chattanooga School of Arts and Sciences, and though all of Grace’s teams lost, the Golden Eagle athletes are optimistic for the season to come.

For the student athletes previously involved in football, basketball practice from three to five pm after school started on November 11, but for those not involved in football, November 4 signaled the start of practices.

“Practice is vital because if you don’t practice, you’ll never improve. Besides, practice time after school is a terrific opportunity for everyone to build stronger relationships within the team which strengthen the team’s performance,” said Senior Holley Fulgham, an athlete on Grace’s Girls’ Varsity team.

This Friday, the Golden Eagle teams are scheduled to play Stewart County in another pre-game before the official start of the season, and all of Grace’s basketball teams are looking forward to exhibiting teamwork for a successful game.

“It’s really about being unselfish and trusting your teammates to do what they have to do in offense and defense,” remarked Freshman JV athlete Pierce Smith who has been playing basketball since kindergarten.

Hopes are indeed high as the Golden Eagles transition into basketball season, and as they gear up for their upcoming games, Grace’s athletes are prepared to give it their all for a successful season.
