The Golden Eagles’ Middle School Boys’ Soccer team is nearing playoffs next week, having played six games since the start of the season in October. Of their six games, they won against Our Lady of Perpetual Help’s (OLPH) team during the season’s kickoff, and later tied in their game against Silverdale.
“The highlight of the season probably was winning our first game and then also playing well against Silverdale,” remarked Middle School Boys’ Soccer Coach Mr. Gavin Gromacki.
This week will bring the close of the regular season for the team with their last three games before the district playoffs happening next week. The team played against Collegedale Adventist Middle School (CAMS) last night and lost, but they are preparing for success in their next two games against St. Jude School on Thursday and Normal Park Museum Magnet School (NPMMS) on Friday.
Their performance throughout the rest of this week will determine their stance for the playoffs, but regardless of whether they win the rest of their games or not, the team will have gained experience and made friendships that will carry them through the year.
“My favorite part of coaching this team is being able to hang out with the guys every day after school and having the chance to get to know them better,” said Gromacki. “My prayer is that each one of them grows up to be a man of God and I hope that they have a great season playing soccer together.”
